Learn from industry experts the best practices regarding driver safety and monitoring driver behaviors. Clay Merches and Rusty Weiss will discuss effective management strategies targeted to reduce risk and improve compliance at fleets.

Clay Merches has over 25 years of experience improving all segments of the organization including safety and human resources, operations and maintenance. He has proven results working with all fleet sizes from 20 trucks to over 4,000. Clay received his B.S. degree from Harding University with an emphasis in business law.  He continued his education at Harding and received his M.B.A with an emphasis in leadership and management.  Later he earned his C.D.S. through the North American Transportation Management Institute.  He continues to be a mentor for other safety professionals that want to further their knowledge in safety and management. He has received multiple national fleet safety awards including 3rd place awards in the TCA national fleet safety contest in 2002 and 2013. In 2015 he received an Innovators award for his unique approach in obtaining improvements in safety and maintenance. Clay speaks at industry events regarding Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, improving fleet safety programs, and industry best practices. With a unique and proactive perspective, Clay is able to achieve significant reductions in crash frequency and severity, reduced CSA violations and upgraded or improved safety ratings.

Rusty Weiss is a seasoned veteran of the transportation industry. Focused on integrating client systems to automate tasks, monitor system performance, optimize reports and enable efficient management by measurement. Expert consultant on successful adoption and utilization of driver performance monitoring and feedback systems. Currently focused on helping fleets improve MPG utilizing data that is already present combined with highly efficient and effective coaching.
